Background

Mr. Poole graduated from the University of Alabama in 1980 where he served as a Student Government Association Senator and was voted Outstanding Pre-Law Student in the School of Commerce and Business Administration. Mr. Poole received his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1982.

Political Experience

Mr. Poole was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 1982 where he represented District 62 (Hale and Tuscaloosa Counties) for three terms until his election to the Alabama State Senate in 1994. Mr. Poole served in the State Senate for 16 years (1994-2010) where he represented District 21 (Hale, Pickens and Tuscaloosa Counties). Mr. Poole earned a reputation as one of the most powerful and effective legislators in Montgomery during his time in office.
